Mission Statement
The purpose of the National Center for Youth Ministry (NCYM) at Kiev Theological Seminary is to prepare the career path of youth ministry in such positions as youth director, para-church staff, and positions in related fields.
Vision Statement
The vision of the program is to see evangelical churches, Bible colleges, and other ministry contexts throughout Ukraine and Eurasia staffed with youth ministers who are trained to effectively communicate God’s word to the current generation of young people.

This course is a study of foundational principles in establishing and maintaining a ministry to adolescents. Emphasis is placed upon a system of ministry philosophy and general principles for adolescent ministry. Included will be a survey of local church and para-church adolescent ministries and programs.

I. Course Description
Basic determinants critical to adolescent culture will be evaluated and observed. Identification, integration, and application of the contemporary youth culture are emphasized. Focusing on the science of the anthropological and societal nature of the ‘people grouping’ of the young, special attention will be given to reaching the global adolescent within the context of his/her culture. Current local youth sub-cultures are also identified and analyzed. Resources will include personal interaction with high school students, administrators, and other knowledgeable persons as well as examination of news resources and teen-oriented periodicals. Students will learn how to evaluate teen culture in light of Scripture.

A study of platform techniques, sermon construction, lesson preparation, and general speaking qualifications within the context of cultural appropriateness. Special emphasis will be given to adolescents and age appropriate communication. The course will include a study of the process and practice of communicating Biblical Truth to youth, both the teaching of the Scriptures and the presenting of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for salvation. This course explores the principles and methods of spiritual maturing in the context of the social, physical, and cultural youth development. Investigation of the psychological, developmental, social, and environmental factors which influence spiritual development. Special attention is given to exploring the Biblical and theological foundations for discipleship and making application to the discipleship process. Models and other paradigms for small group ministry to adolescents are also discussed.
